Pour une histoire rationnelle des idées

Reason at work, 1
For a rational history of ideas

In the field of the history of philosophy, Pierre-François Moreau's work stands out for its fidelity to four fundamental methodological requirements: the necessity of philological work upstream of philosophical work; the establishment of a complex dialectic between the internal constitution of systematic meaning and openness to the context of composition; the interest shown in receptions, particularly of Spinozism, and in the philosophical richness of texts beyond their original context; and finally, the constant openness to foreign historiographical traditions. These demands have set the standard and been the driving force behind a spectacular revival of a rational history of ideas and Spinozism, both in France and abroad. This first volume brings together previously unpublished contributions and sets out to define the contours of this school, of which Pierre-François Moreau has been the tireless promoter. The second volume is specifically dedicated to Pierre-François Moreau's work on Spinoza and spinozism.
