Principles of Human Geography is the scientific legacy of Paul Vidal de La Blache (1845-1918) who taught geography at the Sorbonne at the end of the 19th century and in the early years of the 20th century and who promoted new epistemological and methodological approaches. This book was published posthumously in 1922 thanks to Vidal's son-in-law and disciple Emmanuel de Martonne who edited the unfinished manuscript. Reading these pages gives a comprehensive view of the theory and the purposes of this modern way of doing geography at that time.
