</Text>

</invalidtag></invalidtag>

The proposal outlined in this issue is to argue that a largely unexplored yet highly significant way of linking "politics" and "objects" involves investigation and description that consider both the materiality of objects and the political capacities that emerge from courses of action. Without this descriptive detour, it would not be the object itself that is described as political, but something else: its symbolic destiny, the representations associated with it at a certain time and place, or even the object serving as a synecdoche or pretext for designating an abstract entity. This suggests that we do not assume that all objects are political, and that some are inherently political (a weapon, a flag, etc.), while others are not. Contrary to this approach, which a priori standardises the field of politics, the authors of this issue seek to uncover how, where, when, and under what conditions objects enter (or do not enter) politics. They provide detailed and nuanced descriptions that focus on materiality and objects in use, thereby fostering a richer and more unexpected political understanding, whether describing a British colonial helmet, a light bulb and a syringe, a public fountain, gutters and gargoyles, foods such as wine or potatoes, a nuclear facility, brain images of trauma, or even a mailbox.
</Text>

</Text>

<Text language="eng">
Tracés: Revue de Sciences Humaines publishes research in the social sciences in two themed issues per year and a handful of special editions. These issues focus on an old debate that has taken a new turn due to current editorial or political circumstances, takes an idea that the various intellectual traditions and disciplines would usually address in isolation and submits it to examination from multiple perspectives, or explores an emerging field of thought. Tracés claims a true pluralism, as attested to by the variety of themes and approaches it publishes. The journal's editorial committee is made up of young researchers from various disciplines and pursues a strong interdisciplinary project. This is manifested in the selection of articles, notes, translations, and interviews that make up each of the issues.
</Text>
