He traces the main lines of an "ordo policy" in “The political problem about Ordo” published in May 1948 in the first ordoliberal journal “Ordojahrbuch”. The concept of “Ordo” is an epistemological convenient tool for analyzing different types of interactions between politics and economics. It questions both the Marxist and the Historicist analyses of capitalism, and yet it is an ideal view of a special societal organization. In such an organization, the main role of the State is to create, then to maintain the institutional framework for a well-functioning competitive market which is the best way to cater for individual freedom. This book outlines the genesis and development of Walter Eucken's economic thought at a crossroads between political economy, philosophy, law and history. 03 00 Walter Eucken est la figure centrale de la pensée ordolibérale allemande et fait paraître « Le problème politique de l'Ordre » (1948) dans le premier numéro de la revue Ordojahrbuch. Remettant en cause le concept historiciste et marxiste de capitalisme, ce long article redéfinit les fondements de l’économie politique. Pour ce faire, il recourt au concept d’ordre. Ce concept est un outil épistémologique permettant une typologie des modes d’interaction entre le politique et l’économique, ainsi que la définition d’une organisation sociétale idéale. L’ordre idéal est alors celui qui garantit au mieux la liberté des individus. Il repose sur un ordre économique concurrentiel ancré dans un cadre institutionnel créé et entretenu par l’État. Elle se compose de titres respectant la logique et la composition suivantes : il s'agira d'abord d'éditer ou de rééditer un texte intéressant l'évolution de l'économie moderne, texte relativement court – article ou fragment – et difficilement accessible aujourd'hui car, par exemple, publié initialement en langue étrangère (dans ce cas, naturellement, il sera traduit), ou jamais réédité. Il s'agira ensuite d'en proposer une introduction critique situant le texte et son auteur et mettant en évidence leur intérêt et leur originalité sur le plan des échanges entre philosophie et économie; cela pourra être réalisé à partir de différentes perspectives : histoire d'une œuvre, d'un concept, d'une tradition. On soulignera dans la plus grande mesure la pérennité des problèmes soulevés dans le champ des rapports entre les deux domaines. La composition pourrait respecter la proportion moyenne d'un tiers d'édition critique et de deux tiers de commentaires. 17 00 « FEUILLETS" : Économie politique moderne » is a collection of monographs of between 120 and 130 pages. It consists of titles which follow the following logic and composition. Firstly, the texts published or republished cover the evolution of modern economics. The texts are relatively short - articles or excerpts - which are currently not readily available because, for example, they were originally published in a foreign language (in this case they will, of course, be translated), or because they were never republished. A critical introduction is also provided to situate the text and its author in context and bring to light what makes them interesting and original in terms of exchanges between philosophy and economics; that may be achieved from different perspectives - the history of a work, a concept or a tradition. The greatest possible emphasis is placed on the enduring problems raised in the relationship between the two disciplines.
