In the tradition of the Ecole française d'histoire du livre (French History of the Book School), "Métamorphoses du livre" includes original or translated works, from all periods and geographical areas, which introduce new approaches and reveal how a text becomes a book, how books and published articles, from physical tomes to digital editions, are made up and how they change and spread.
The "Métamorphoses du livre" collection is published by the Institut d'histoire du livre which incorporates the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon, the École Nationale des Chartes, the École Nationale Supérieure des Sciences de l'Information et des Bibliothèques, the Bibliothèque Municipale (City Library) in Lyon and the Musée de l'Imprimerie (Museum of printing) in Lyon.
